Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology (SMUCT) and the School of Entrepreneurship Development (SED) have signed a transformative Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance the educational and career opportunities for students. This partnership signifies a collaborative effort to equip SMUCT students with the practical skills and global exposure needed to thrive in today’s competitive landscape.
The MOU outlines a broad range of initiatives to empower students. These include internship opportunities in local and international companies, access to part-time employment, and industry visits to provide real-world exposure. Students will also benefit from startup support programs designed to turn innovative ideas into successful businesses. On-campus skill development initiatives, focusing on leadership, communication, and entrepreneurship, as well as job fairs connecting students with potential employers, are also key highlights of the agreement.
In addition to career-focused initiatives, the partnership emphasizes global connectivity. SED will assist SMUCT in establishing collaborations with leading universities across the USA, Europe, Australia, and Asia, paving the way for student and faculty exchange programs. Moreover, SED will provide study-abroad consultancy, including guidance on scholarships, to enable students to pursue higher education overseas.
The collaboration also aims to enhance the research capabilities of both students and faculty members at SMUCT. Support will be provided for publishing research papers in internationally recognized journals, fostering a culture of academic excellence within the university.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Dr. Md. Shah-E-Alam, Vice Chancellor of SMUCT, stated, “This partnership reflects our dedication to providing a well-rounded educational experience that prepares our students to lead and innovate in the real world.” Mohammad Aman Ullah Aman, Chairman and CEO of SED, added, “Our vision is to nurture entrepreneurial talent and create an ecosystem that drives national economic growth.”
From SMUCT Dr. Par Masiur Rahman (Registrar), Professor Dr. Mohammed Sohail Mustafa (Dean of Faculty of Business), Professor Dr. Bahzad Noor (Head, Department of Business Administration), Mohammad Rezaul Karim (Associate Professor, Department of Business Administration), Dr. Md. Ariful Islam (Director) and Engr. Md. Monir Hossain Khan (Director) were present there from SED.
This agreement, effective for two years with the possibility of renewal, will be implemented through regular meetings and collaborative planning. Founded in 2003, SMUCT is celebrated for its diverse academic programs and commitment to fostering creativity in higher education. On the other hand, SED, established in 2018, is dedicated to addressing unemployment by fostering entrepreneurship and empowering individuals to shape their own success.
